Mount Pleasant Home
After years of growing a successful business and raising a family, these clients were ready to treat themselves to big changes in their family home. The existing living spaces had become dated and no longer met their needs. The kitchen layout didn’t function well, the living room was dark and underused, and the lower level entertainment areas seemed closed off from the rest of the house. With their wish list in hand, we reworked the spaces. We took down two main walls to open the living room to the kitchen and center hall. In the redesign of the kitchen, the breakfast area and sitting area were flipped, and the flooring changed. A large island with a canopy and cabinet columns anchor the open kitchen. Furniture quality cabinets, quartzite and exotic wood countertops, and patterned dimensional tile add beauty and sophistication to the newly opened spaces. New lighting, furniture, and fabrics were chosen to complement the open plan.
With the help of a knowledgeable contractor, we were also able to completely open the stairway to the lower level. This made for a more inviting entrance to the extended entertainment areas.
The makeover continued with the powder room. First the entrance was relocated to a less conspicuous place. Walls were wrapped in a mural wallpaper. The custom vanity was styled after an antique dresser. A floral embossed vessel sink adds another pretty detail to the new room.
